Civicamay be able to carry out training at your own training site subject to the following conditions:

you need

• 8 client PCs and a tutor PC, each loaded with the latest Civica client software and able to access your Flare server's training system

- Note: Please arrange the loading of updated Flare training data with our Technical Department via the Flare Hotline

• 9 tables/desks of a suitable size and positioned so that each student can view projection

• dry wipe board or flip chart

• printer (easily accessible)

demonstration facilities

- either of the following

• data projector connected to Tutor’s PC; to project onto screen or clear wall space

• tutor control system (example Netschool or Classnet).

GIS training requirements

In order for the GIS toolkit end user course to take place, the authority must guarantee that:

• each client PC used for the training has access to the GIS system

• each client PC used for the training has run the Flare MapX toolkit

• both MapX and the Civica GIS toolkit must be installed on the training machines and the toolkit should be proven to run from the client machine.

exporting requirements

To be able to carry out the exporting course at customer sites the following will need to be set up:

• each training PC will need to have at least Word97 & Excel97 installed, along with the CIVICA mailmerge macro package

• the applications themselves should be installed in the standard Microsoft location for Office97 products & above, which is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office If this is not the case please contact us

• the training mailmerge documents will need to be extracted onto either a fileserver or a standard PC with file sharing enabled which is accessible via the training PC's

• the folder, into which the merge documents are to be extracted, will need to be shared out with full read write permissions

• each of the training PC's will need a mapped drive of Z: which points to the shared area.

When the above requirements have been met, the mailmerge documents can be installed from the disk (this will be sent to you from our Technical department).

installing the mailmerge documents

• place the floppy into the drive of the Tutor PC

• double-click on 'my computer'

• double-click on the 'A drive'

• double-click on 'mergedocs.exe'

• amend the 'unzip to folder' and click 'unzip'

• when the files have been extracted clip on 'OK' and close down the 'self extractor' window

• select the Z drive (via explorer), there should now be a 'masters' folder containing the merge documents.
