Key functionalities of the toolkit include:

• Identifying the precise locations of records, particularly important for items such as abandoned cars, missed bins, ASB incidents and application boundaries.
• Creating new records dynamically from the map with the address automatically populated.
• Finding records from the map.
• Being able to select nearby records on the map and create a personal database, for example select all other incidents/premises which are within a defined radius.
• Buffering items on the map, such as an Avian Influenza outbreak.
• Generating lists of neighbour consultees.
• Mapping records from the report generators to see for example the location of last months complaints/requests compared to the month before, and identifying hotspots.

With more than 20 sites now using APP GIS toolkit, hope more will be encouraged to join in.
